Our commitment
We want every devotee and visitor, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or older devices, to be able to use this guide. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and India's Guidelines for Indian Government Websites where relevant.
What we do
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading structure and landmarks, and a "skip to main content" link.
- Full keyboard access with a clearly visible focus indicator.
- Text and background colours chosen for strong contrast.
- Descriptive alternative text for informative images.
- Layouts that work from small phones to large screens, and text that can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content.
- Reduced motion for people who have asked their device to minimise animation.
- Tamil text marked with the correct language so screen readers pronounce it properly.
Known limitations
- Embedded Google Maps are provided by a third party and may not be fully accessible. Each map has a text alternative and a link to directions.
- Some older photographs have limited detail, and captions describe them where it matters.
